My Body and Valor

They are constantly at odds with each other over a variety of things. I have been hit in the face (and all over my appendages) by a curious new food allergy.

My apologies for the following…

my allergyterrible terrible

…and I still am not exactly sure of what it is!

Since I do not have health insurance, I am forced to tamper around with a trial/error fasting system that’s taking it’s toll on both my work out routine and pocketbook. Judging from what I had for dinner last night, I can gather together a group of possible perps. From a list that only seemed to exclude leafy greens and beef, I have narrowed it down to three possiblilities:

  1. Dairy
  2. Wheat
  3. Red Wine

I hate being told what to eat… (notice the ironic double standard considering that nutritional advice is one of the main components of this blog) Though I would be most comfortable if the culprit were dairy, since most adults need to ween themselves off of it as they drift further and further away from infanthood. I have many vegan friends anyway, so it would not not have dire consequences on where I chose to eat out either. If it were wheat, then I would look at it as a push in the right direction towards weening myself off a product whose price is soaring through the roof. Futureland munchies might be more affordable for me with that allergy.

The two worst case scenarios would be a celiac diagnosis (aversion to both wheat and dairy) or if it were my drink of choice… the juice of Dionysis… red wine. ::sigh::

I guess this mysterious new allergy will rest as an example of how one’s diet is determined by way of one’s own unique body system functions and vice versa, but not always. Different bodies require different sources of energy at different rates and portions. Some bodies can’t handle what is good for the others and vice versa. Needless to say, there are a few dietary conventions that are pretty much set in stone. Among them: can’t go wrong with leafy greens.

  • There are histamines in some red wine. You can get rid of the rash with antihisamines (hay fever medicines).

I had the same reaction to some processed meat in a pizza. Within miutes I was covered in very icthy welts all over my body.
