My day job: I teach Earth Sciences to kids after-school in Brooklyn. We make videos for Youtube to accelerate the learning process by engaging students and diversifying the medium through which the lessons are presented. Some of my personal goals include becoming a better teacher/listener and developing habits that make me more self-sufficient.
Ever since I was little I’ve been fascinated by plants — especially ones that have been proven beneficial when incorporated into human diets. My mother’s parents still live in Bulgaria and throughout different periods of my life, I have been able to know the joy of a meal that has soaked in some good ole fashioned T.L.C. from seed to fork.
I am going to use this blog as a place where I can explore what it really means to be what you eat and how much you can actually control your being by that logic. Welcome to the place I go to vent about global crisis or personal commitments or any relevant media
that might be of interest of any kindred spirits out there…
I consider this blog a platform for:
- deconstructing the current state of disarray plaguing globalized food systems.
- tracing the (d)evolution of food from something that farmers grow for people to eat into something companies produce for consumers to buy
- exploring democratic alternatives to assuring various communities with the proper nutritional resources
I know that the bullets above are kind of a mouth full, but rest assured that we will be dealing with them here on a very local, day-by-day level. And since I also currently work as an educator — my posts will reflect small touches of educational theory (and intellectual evolution).
I hope that by coming to terms with the building materials of the organism that hosts one’s consciousness, one might be able to acheive a wholer interpretation of their own existence.
Sincerely,
Mihail P. Kossev
